A monthly print run of 112,000 copies makes the Behörden Spiegel the most widely circulated independent newspaper for the public sector in Germany. 108.636 copies are demonstrably distributed. The Behörden Spiegel is offered by subscription and sale. Besides the German capital of Berlin, this distribution caters to 16 Länder capitals, our own city of Bonn (Federal Administration) and ultimately every local authority and administrative district in the country. The information provided by the Behörden Spiegel reaches its readers immediately at their workplace during working hours.
Federal and Länder governments, local authorities and public enterprises are the key distribution channels for the Behörden Spiegel. But besides subscribers in the public sector, its regular readers also include the parliaments, trade associations, the Foreign Service, the professional associations and trade unions for the public sector, as well as industry representations. Many cities witness a greater distribution density of the Behörden Spiegel, namely wherever higher federal or Länder authorities are located, or central governmental organizations. Focus areas of the Behörden Spiegel’s reporting include topics related to the regional administrations and their municipal undertakings, as well as privatized public authority tasks. The readership of this specialist newspaper for the public sector therefore also includes the management employees of the approximately 11,500 regional and district administrations in Germany.
The newspaper is filled with current information and reports embracing all areas of the public sector, from local authorities to the federal administration, and reaches the key decision-makers on a municipal, Länder and federal level, including mandate holders from all areas of political decision-making. An online portal that supplements the articles of the Behörden Spiegel with additional background material and our four newsletters (see page 14) also contribute to the community-building of the Behörden Spiegel, the newspaper of record for the public sector. In addition, there are also selected focus topics every month which you will find in the detailed topic list providing an overview of all the individual subjects covered from January to December.
